Sorry for the crappy picture. I took it this morning with my phone while laying in bed. Then I proceeded to upload it onto Facebook, download it to my computer, upload it again to Flickr and paste the html over here. It's had a long journey already and it's only 6:30 in the morning!
Now, as promised, this was my second traveling outfit - what I wore in the train from South Carolina to D.C. It was just as comfortable as yesterday's look and yet made a completely different statement. It was only this morning that I realized I only paired these combat boots with pants... Not very creative of me. Maybe in a couple of weeks, I will have to do another week of combat boots - skirts and dresses edition! Thoughts?! :)

Sweater - American Apparel / Riding pants - Anthropologie / Boots - Nine West /
Hat - it was my mom's when we lived in Senegal, recently given to me!
Having woken up at 5:15 that morning in order to catch my train, I was not about to put on makeup and do my hair. This hat offered the perfect solution. And while it is practical and stylish, it actually means a lot to me. I spent my childhood in Senegal (West Africa) and I grew up seeing my mom wear this hat all the time. This style - the patched and mismatched fabric - is called mbaye fall. Apparently one of the people's ancestors was a very wealthy Muslim prophet who had a real heart for the poor. So, when his clothing began to rip, instead of wasting money and purchasing new clothes, he just patched it up. He continued this process until his clothing was covered in patches - serving as a reminder to himself and to others that there were other, needier people out there and that our priority should be to care for them.
On that note, I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. I'm meeting up with Elle from A Wonderfelle World for lunch tomorrow and then plan to follow that with some art exhibits with David. And Sunday includes lots of blogging homework, football and yoga/Starbucks with Cathy of Cathy Philips Fashion! Happy Friday, blogger darlings!

Love the outfit!
I have that top! I have that top!! I have in black....for some reason it's not as Diana Ross on me as it is on you! That means you are a tiny little thing! Isn't that the chic-est? and comfiest sweatshirt ever!
Lurve it. I totally want to wear some kind of leggings outfit next time I do lots of travel. And it's always good, if you're going to take boots with you, to wear them rather than giving up precious packing space to fit them in!
Love this outfit! Comfy and chic all at the same time.
Yayyyyyyyyyyy! I won a wine decanter a couple months ago. Is the universe trying to tell me that I'm a boozer?? Ah ha ha. Thank you sooooooo much lady! Oh and I'm diggin' that AA sweater!
Oooh, interesting to know that you lived in Senegal! The story of that print is awesome... thanks for sharing it with us :)
